It proposes. You decide.
A month of bank activity arrives already matched against the ledger on amount, date and reference. What lands on your desk is a reviewed list to approve, not a pile to work through.

Staged, not posted. The one exception already has its journal entry written and a reason. It goes to a person, never to a suspense account.
Proposals, not postings.
Bank lines are matched against the ledger on amount, date and reference. Strong matches are proposed, weak ones are left alone, and every proposal is staged rather than posted.
Approving is the step that creates the entries: one action for the whole batch. That separation is what makes the speed usable: an auto-matcher that posts on its own is one you have to audit afterwards, and auditing a machine takes longer than doing the work yourself.
And a reconciliation only goes green when a statement balance has been entered and it actually ties. Matched is not reconciled, a distinction that costs firms real money when a system blurs it.

Nothing waits in an uncategorised bucket. Where TAI is less than certain it still posts to the account this client's own books support, says why, and puts the row in your queue, so the review list is decisions to confirm, not a suspense account someone has to remember.
They have to agree with the control account.
A/P and A/R registers, the fixed asset register, vendor records and 1099 tracking all reconcile back to their control accounts, and the difference is shown rather than assumed to be zero.
Aging detail for both receivables and payables comes out of the same data, so what you send a client and what sits in the ledger cannot drift apart.
Fixed assets depreciate on a straight-line basis with a whole-month convention, posting through the close like any other schedule.
Reconciles to control

Onboarding, records and 1099s in the same place as the bills.
Vendor onboarding collects what you need at the point you need it, rather than in January when the 1099 deadline arrives and half your vendors have no tax details on file.
Because the vendor record, the bills and the payments live in one system, the 1099 position is a query rather than a project.
